Equiano and 2Africa Updates

Equiano lands in Portugal, Nigeria, and South Africa. But also Togo and Namibia. A round of applause for Togo and Namibia forking out the money required to participate in the project. Google has deployed branching units along the West African coast, but the nation desiring to connect to it and provide the landing station must pay the bill. This is Google's skin in the game approach. To extend the branching unit to the land with terrestrial backhaul and a CLS is probably $15 million to $25 million.

Route price pressure will be greatest in Nigeria and South Africa which both Equiano and 2Africa are serving. While 2Africa will over time bring down pricing in most countries it serves, price volatility is still possible. MRCs as high as $60K a month for 2Africa 100G wavelengths have been observed on the Kenya/South Africa corridor due to other cables being maxed out.
